All you need to know about SpaceX

Space Exploration Technologies Corporation

Popularly known as SPACEX, is an American Aerospace Manufacturer and Space Transport Company. It’s been almost fourteen years, since, this company was found on May 6, 2002 by Elon Musk, headquartered in Hawthorne, California , USA.

Behind this, Elon Musk had the magnificent vision of the “Colonization of Mars”. Mars, as we all are aware, is the Cynosure of the current scientific study about possible human colonization.

It’s surface condition and presence of water on Mars, makes it the most fascinating planet and also the most feasible one as the “Backup Plan” for addressing the transcending concern of “Rising human population”.

Not only this, But SpaceX also epitomizes the objective of reducing transportation cost. During this era of past fourteen years, since it’s foundation, SpaceX has successfully developed the Falcon Launch Vehicle.

Falcon Launch Vehicle family and the Dragon Spacecraft family, both of which currently deliver Payload into the Earth’s orbit to ISS.

The list of achievements of SpaceX is long, yet we would focus on a few aspects, which give this organization a silver lining like the fact that it is the first private funded company to successfully launch and orbit a spacecraft (Dragon 2010).

Also it launched the first privately funded, liquid – Propellant rocket to reach orbit (Falcon 1,2008) and also the first private company to send a spacecraft to the International Space Station (ISS) (Dragon in 2012).

It would not be wrong to say, that it’s CEO Mr. Elon Musk should be credited with a major share for all the success of the organization

As he is the one who has made this organization capable of Further Development Contract in 2011 by NASA and represent a humans – rated Dragon, to transport astronauts to the International Space Station and return then safely.

On April 8, 2016, a SpaceX Falcon 9 booster launched an un crewed Dragon capsule on a re-supply mission to the International Space Station (ISS) for NASA.

About 8 minutes after lift off, the rocket’s first stage came down for the company’s first-ever landing on a “drone ship” in the ocean and its second successful touch down overall during an orbital mission.

On March 30 of this year, that same first stage helped lift the SES-10 communications satellite to orbit, and then paced its second drone-ship landing.

(Both touchdowns came on a ship called Of Course I Still Love You. SpaceX has a second such landing craft as well, which is called Just Read the Instructions).
