Suzume’s Door Locking New Trailer has been released! The official Twitter account for A brand new trailer of Makoto Shinkai’s (read about the artist on Wikipedia) upcoming movie Suzume’s Door Locking (Suzume no Tojimari) was released on his upcoming Twitter account. The trailer showcases the first look at Nanoka Hara’s lead performance as the character Suzume. This trailer marks the first time that we hear her voice for the upcoming movie. Makoto Shinkai announced the movie on December 15, 2024, with the film scheduled to release in Japan on November 11, 2024.
The film is directed and written by Makoto Shinkai. Masayoshi Tanaka is the Character Designer, Kenichi Tsuchiya is the Animation Director, and Takumi Tanji is the Art Director, and the animation production will be done at CoMix Wave Films.
Crunchyroll is collaborating with Sony Pictures and Wild Bunch International to release the film globally (excluding Asia) in early 2024.
Makoto Shinkai has made many good films including Weathering with You (2019), which won “Animation of the Year” at the 43rd Japan Academy Film Awards. He won “Director of the Year” for his 2016 movie, Your Name, at the 40th Japan Academy Film Awards. Your Name is the third highest-grossing Japanese film worldwide. Shinkai has also made films like The Garden of Words, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, and 5 Centimeters per Second which were also admired a lot.

Suzume no Tojimari is a coming-of-age story that revolves around Suzume, a 17-year-old from Kyushu (located in southwestern Japan). Suzume meets a young man who is looking for a mysterious door in the mountains. She is able to find this door.
Seemingly drawn by its power, Suzume reaches for the knob, and all of a sudden the doors begin to open one after another all across Japan, causing destruction to anyone who is near. And now Suzume must close these portals to prevent further disaster. Her journey is going to be tough and, she’ll have to face a lot of challenges. It will be exciting to see how Suzume will overcome her struggles to protect the people around her.
