Tonikawa Season 2

Let’s face the facts straight here- Weebs are lonely people! We need a touch of romance in our lives, or in our anime for that matter! That is why when Tonikawa became an instant hit ever since its first episode aired! Now, fans are looking forward to having the next season- Tonikawa Season 2.

It has been a while since the anime community got something that was solely focused on romance. The last time it happened was the time when Maid Sama came out, and fans were overjoyed. So, Tonikawa was the hope for everyone in the rough year of 2020. Fans fell in love with the innocent story build-up, the tender love between the newlywed couple, and the innocent characters.

Now, that Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You Season 1 has ended, the main question is- Will there be a Tonikawa Season 2? If yes, when will it even come out?

Tonikawa Season 2: Release Date

In the wake of the global pandemic, where none of the anime except for the big names or season renewals did well- Tonikawa proved to be an exception. The anime was light-hearted, humorous, and simply romantic. It made everyone smile during these horrible times, and everyone wants a Tonikawa Season 2.

There has not yet been any official confirmation of Tonikawa Season 2. We do not have any official release date for the new season either.

But, do consider the fact that the anime just ended, and production houses usually wait for a while to check on the reactions and popularity before they announce a new season. So, we are hopeful that there will be a Tonikawa Season 2 as it gained vast popularity in these past few months.

But, no need to be depressed just yet, for there might be good news we have for you:

An OVA Announced

Just after the last episode of Tonikawa has aired, the production house announced an OVA of the series. The OVA is set to be released in the Summer of 2024.

We can only hope that there will be some sort of announcement of Tonikawa Season 2 after the release of this OVA. If an OVA is nearby, can the next season be that far?

Will Tonikawa Season 2 happen?

There has not been any direct announcement. But, Tonikawa will likely return for another installment as renewals are usually dependent on two factors; popularity and source material.

Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You has become a fan-favorite series over its 12-episode release and is arguably one of the better Crunchyroll originals of the year. Currently, the anime is scoring a 4/5 on Anime-Planet, 7.8/10 on IMDB, 8.03/10 on My Anime List, and 4.8/5 on Crunchyroll – easily popular enough to warrant a second season.

At the time of writing, 14 volumes of the manga series have been published (with the latest volume releasing the same day as the anime finale).

So, there are plenty of possibilities for a Tonikawa Season 2. There is a possible plot as well as popularity. The only reason to worry about is when will the next season be released.

Tonikawa Season 2: A Possible Timing

With the anime yet to be officially renewed, a release date for season 2 has not been confirmed. However, we can make some predictions.

The series was announced in early-March 2020 and debuted in early-October, meaning it took roughly seven months to produce. Assuming that season 2 would experience a similar production schedule, fans could be able to tune into the premiere in July 2024.

But, right now with the OVA announcement in Summer 2020- you might not be able to hear about the release of Tonikawa Season 2 in 2024. However, keep your fingers crossed, and let’s be hopeful!

Tonikawa Season 2: Possible Plot

The anime is entirely following its manga. Till now, the anime has reached up to the fifth volume of the manga. It is most likely that the second season will start from where the first season ended. It will pick up the pace.

The anime is too popular to not have a second season. The anime is everything fans need in these tough times. It is not as serious as the other action anime. It will make you laugh heartily and forget about your own worries for a while.

If the Tonikawa Season 2 arrives, you can watch it on Crunchyroll, and we will update you as soon as we get any news.

However, till then you can read the manga at Viz. The manga will give you some material to live with till the next season comes!
