Violet Evergarden: Movie

Violet Evergarden Anime series sequel Violet Evergarden: Movie began streaming its second teaser promo on Friday. The film will open in Japanese theatres on April 24, 2020, which was originally scheduled for 10th January. Studio Kyoto Animation is producing the film. Have a look at the promo:

The movie’s Twitter also announced that singer TRUE will return to perform film’s main theme song “WILL”.

The promo also announced that the film’s release is expanding with more theatres to screen the movie. Starting today theatres are offering B2 sized illustration drawn by series character designer Akiko Takase.

Seven theaters throughout Japan will show the previous side-story film, Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll, on March 18 to commemorate that film’s Blu-ray Disc and DVD release. Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memories Doll was screened in Japan last September and grossed 641,980,500 yen. Funimation will be screening the movie in the US in Early 2020. The side story was supposed to act as a bridge between the anime series and the movie.

Written by Kana Akatsuki and illustrated by Akiko Takase, Violet Evergarden focuses on Violet’s journey of reintegrating back into society after the war is over and her search for her life’s purpose now that she is no longer a soldier in order to understand the last words her major, Gilbert, had told her: “I love you.”

A 13-episode anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation aired during Winter 2018. An anime original episode released in July 2018 is also available on Netflix. A spin-off will release in September 2019. In addition to anime series, a sequel anime movie will open in April 2020.
